Berdasarkan studi yang dilakukan aplikasi pemutaran musik online dari Google (Songza), lagu "Moves Like Jagger" membuat pekerja di AS lebih produktif. Berdasarkan survei pekerja di AS lebih banyak mendengarkan Adam Levine dan Christina Aguilera menyanyikan lagu "Moves Like Jagger" saat bekerja.
Lagu "Moves Like Jagger" sendiri dikemas dalam genre disko, electro-pop, dan dance-pop. Lagu ini dirilis pada 21 Juni 2011 sebagai single keempat sekaligus terakhir dari versi ulang album studio ketiga Maroon 5, Hands All Over (2010).
Lagu ini ditulis oleh Adam Levine, Ammar Malik, Benny Blanco, dan Shellback, dengan Benny Blanco dan Shellback juga bertindak sebagai produser.

Pada tahun 2021, lagu ini mendapatkan sertifikasi Berlian dari Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), menegaskan statusnya sebagai salah satu karya terbesar Maroon 5.
