Jakarta: Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia Masafumi Ishii has ensured that the Japanese government will be ready to assist the evacuation of Indonesian crew members from Diamond Princess cruise ship.

"I think it is their prerogative. We have not discussed the issue. If they decide to evacuate, we will be happy to assist," the Japanese diplomat told reporters here on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.

According to the Japanese official, the Indonesian government should also coordinate with the operator of the cruise ship. To that end, the Japanese government is also ready to facilitate communication between the Indonesian government and the company.
