Jakarta: Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has encouraged the United Nations (UN) and its member countries to strengthen cooperation in tackling the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
On Wednesday morning, the Indonesian President virtually joined other world leaders and spoke before the General Debate of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.
"Cooperation in tackling covid-19 must be strengthened in terms of the health aspects as well as the socio-economic effects," President Jokowi stated.
"Vaccine will be the game changer in the war against pandemic," he added.
Therefore, the international community needs to work together to ensure that all countries have equal access to a safe and affordable vaccine.
In the long term, the management of resilient global health system needs to be further improved.
From the economic perspective, revitalization of economic activities gradually needs to start by tackling the limits of our global supply chain today.
According to the former Jakarta governor, revitalization of economy must prioritize the health of all citizens of the world.
