ASEAN Plus Three Urged to Establish Network of Pharmaceutical Industries

Jakarta: The Indonesian government has proposed the establishment of the ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Network to help overcome the ongoing covid-19 crisis.
 
According to Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, The  establishment  of  the APT  Network  of  Pharmaceutical  Industries would facilitate regional cooperation, including joint vaccine research and production and help sustain sub-region connectivity.
 
"There is an urgent need to support development, production and distribution of covid-19 vaccine within APT countries," Minister Retno said during 21st APT Foreign Ministers Meeting on Wednesday.

This week, Minister Retno participated in the 53rd ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM), Post Ministerial Conferences (PMCs) and Related Meetings.
 
"At least 19 meetings will be held virtually," Minister Retno said during a virtual press briefing here last week.
 
According to Minister Retno, the forum will produce a number of outcome documents, including Joint Communique of the 53rd ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting which will highlight their commitment to maintaining political and economic stability in Southeast Asia.
