Jakarta: Indonesia and Russia have agreed to strengthen efforts to elevate their bilateral trade cooperation.
"Indonesia and Russia has a trade target of US$5 Billion in 2020. We understand that such target has not been met among other due to the pandemic," said Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi here on Tuesday.
According to Indonesia's top diplomat, they will maximize the working group of both countries in priority sectors such as agriculture, marine and fisheries affairs, trade, Iinvestment and industries.
Moreover, they will accelerate the finalization of pending documents on economic
cooperation among others memorandums of understanding on transportation, agriculture, fisheries, and creative economy.
"As an additional effort beyond bilateral context I also encourage the negotiation of free trade between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) with population of 450 million people," she stated.
"On investment, I have shared with Minister Lavrov on the Law on Jobs Creation as well as the establishment of the Indonesian Investment Authority (INA). I encourage Russian companies to invest in Indonesia especially in infrastructure, digital infrastructure, healthcare and logistics," she explained.
On Tuesday morning, the Indonesian foreign minister held a bilateral meeting with her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Jakarta.
