Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi met with her Canadian counterpart Marc Garneau on the sidelines of a G20 event in Italy on Sunday.
During the bilateral meeting, the two foreign ministers welcomed the start of negotiations for Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
According to Indonesia's top diplomat, the proposed agreement will open up opportunities for stronger economic cooperation between the two countries.
Moreover, the two ministers also spoke on green investment, vaccine cooperation as well as cooperation in the framework of ASEAN.
"Canada also conveyed its support for Indonesia's G20 Presidency in 2022," said Minister Retno in a press statement after the bilateral meeting.
On Tuesday, the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and, for the first time in the G20 history, a joint session of the Foreign and Development Ministers will take place in Matera, Italy.
