Putin to Visit Indonesia Next Year: Ambassador

Jakarta: Russian Ambassador to Indonesia  Lyudmila Vorobieva has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Indonesia next year to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries.
 
"We are currently preparing a big document that will be signed by the president during his visit here," the Russian diplomat told a press briefing here on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
 
The Ambassador said that Russia wants to have stronger bilateral relations with Indonesia. She hopes that the two countries can upgrade their ties to strategic partnership in the near future.

The two countries established a comprehensive partnership in 2003. It was Indonesia's first comprehensive partnership with a foreign country.
 
"We hope our ties can have higher status and quality," she said.
 
Indonesia and Rusia will hold a number of activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of its diplomatic ties. The Russian Embassy in Jakarta will hold a logo design competition next year.
