G7 Expresses Concern over Russian Troop Build-Up near Ukraine

Wahyu Dwi Anggoro • 13 April 2021 13:04
London: G7 foreign ministers have expressed concern over the large ongoing build-up of Russian military forces on Ukraine’s borders and in illegally-annexed Crimea.

G7 comprises Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US) and the European Union (EU).

"These large-scale troop movements, without prior notification, represent threatening and destabilising activities," said the foreign ministers in a joint statement on Monday.

"We call on Russia to cease its provocations and to immediately de-escalate tensions in line with its international obligations," they stated.

Recalling their last statement, the foreign ministers reaffirmed their support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognised borders.

According to them,  the full implementation of the Minsk agreements is the only way forward for a lasting political solution to the conflict.
