Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi held a bilateral meeting with her Latvian counterpart Edgars Rink?vi?s at Pancasila Building in Central Jakarta on Friday.
"I received my good friend, FM Edgars Rink?vi?s of Latvia," Minister Retno said on her official twitter account after the bilateral meeting.
According to her, Latvia is Indonesia’s largest trading partner in the Baltic region. In addition, Indonesia and Latvia have enjoyed positif trend on trade, tourism and investment in the last 4 years.
"Latvia plans to appoint an Honorary Counsul in Bali," Minister Retno remarked.
During the visit, Rink?vi?s is accompanied by a number of Latvian entrepreneurs. According to reports, the business delegation will have a business meeting with the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).
Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of USD0.2 billion in June 2019. It was mainly influenced by seasonal factors.
Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the oil and gas sector still recorded a trade deficit of USD966.8 million in June 2019. In the meantime, the non-oil and gas sector managed to record a trade surplus of 1.16 billion last month.
Cumulatively, the oil and gas sector booked a trade deficit of USD4.78 billion in the first semester of 2019. Meanwhile, the non-oil and gas sector posted a trade surplus of USD2.85 billion last semester.
