Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi met with Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki at the Dead Sea in Jordan on Wednesday.
In the bilateral meeting with the Palestinian Foreign Minister, she underlined that Indonesia’s principled position on Palestine remains solid and unchanged.
In addition to that, they also discussed the result of recent Arab League Meeting and Palestine National Dialogue in Cairo, the need to restart peace talks, the importance of unity of Palestine and Indonesia’s commitment to support Palestine.
"Indonesia is committed to provide USD 2,3 million for Palestine through various mechanisms bilaterally as well as through UNWRA and ICRC," said Retno in a press statment after the bilateral meeting.
"At the moment, the Indonesian Government is communicating closely with the Palestine authority, UNWRA, and ICRC," she stated.
Indonesia hopes the aid fund for Covid mitigation in Palestine could be disbursed in the first semester of this year.
"Furthermore, as one of the co-chairs of Covax AMC Engagement Group, in the last Meeting I highlighted the importance of ensuring fair, equal access and distribution of vaccines to Palestinian people," she revealed.
