Stockholm: Economic cooperation, two-way trade improvement, and investments were three major topics discussed between the Indonesian Ambassador to Sweden and Latvia Kamapradipta Isnomo and the Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde on Wednesday.
On the occasion, the Indonesian Ambassador highlighted Sweden’s importance to Indonesia as the country’s largest trading and investment partner in the Nordic.
“There is so much room for improvement to boost the investment and the two-way trade between Indonesia and Sweden. Echoing the conversation between the Indonesian President and the Swedish Prime Minister in November last year, we need to step up cooperation to realize its full potentials," he said in a press release on Thursday.
The Indonesian Ambassador also took the opportunity to introduce the newly established Indonesian Investment Authority or INA, Indonesia’s first Sovereign Wealth Fund that is responsible to support the development of vital infrastructure projects in Indonesia.
He underscored that the newly established INA could serve as an opportunity to forge better and stronger economic cooperation in relation to the already existing Swedish companies in Indonesia that deal with infrastructure and telecommunication.
The Swedish foreign minister welcomed the Ambassador and appreciated the good relations between the two countries and the importance to maintain the cooperation.
“It is important to continue to work together on multilateral issues such as political and security as well as climate change issues," she said.
Indonesia is the 8th largest exporter from Asia to Sweden and the 12th largest importer in Asia from Sweden.
Sweden’s FDI to Indonesia was USD26,3 million in 2019 with 115 projects and USD5 million in 2020 with 203 project.
