Jakarta: The United States (US) Embassy in Jakarta has announced the launch of the Atlas Corps x @america: Indonesia Public Sector Leadership Initiative in celebration of @america’s 10th anniversary.
This initiative will provide critical leadership skills to Indonesia’s up and coming generation of leaders in the public sector.
The Atlas Corps x @america: Indonesia Public Sector Leadership Initiative will engage Indonesia’s brightest public sector professionals in a global leadership development opportunity. The program is now recruiting young professionals in government, politics, non-profits, education or a similar social change field for programs online and in the US. It is a collaboration between the UD Embassy’s American cultural center, @america, and the Washington DC-based leadership development organization Atlas Corps.
"As the world works toward solving the challenges presented by the pandemic, we need strong leadership from our governments and everyone who helps set policy," said Heather Variava, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. at the US Embassy, in a press release on Thursday,
"We are excited to offer an opportunity to develop key leadership skills for Indonesian professionals who play a critical role in helping their communities during these challenging times. We can’t think of a better way to commemorate @america’s anniversary," she added.
This initiative is composed of several elements. The online curriculum includes keynote speakers, interactive workshops, self-led activities, discussion groups, and community-building activities with leading US organizations and leaders. Participants will also work on an individual project focused on local or regional social issues. At the conclusion of the program, high achieving participants may be selected for a fellowship in the US with an organization matched to the participants’ interests, skills and abilities.
