Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has a phone conversation with her Australian counterpart, Marise Payne, on Thursday.
The two minister discussed a wide range of issues, including upcoming trilateral meetings, ASEAN and ASEAN Related Summits and vaccine cooperation.
"FM Payne and I agreed on the importance of the signature of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) this year, as a strong message on economic integration," said Indonesia's top diplomat on her official twitter page on Thursday.
In June, countries participating in negotiations over the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) reiterated their determination to sign the RCEP at the fourth RCEP Summit in November.
The signing would show that participating countries support a multilateral trading system and stronger economic integration among regional countries, thereby helping to boost economy recoveries across the region.
Initiated by ASEAN in 2012, the RCEP is a free trade agreement among the ten member countries of the bloc and their partners, namely China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.
Once signed, it would create one of the largest free trade areas in the world.
