Jakarta: Indonesia pushed for collective global leadership and international collaboration to tackle Covid-19 pandemic at Thursday's G20 Foreign Ministers’ Extraordinary Meeting.
"Bolstering G20’s unity and solidarity will be an important driver of impactful change in the fight against this pandemic," Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said on her official twitter page on Friday.
Held virtually by Saudi Arabia, the meeting discussed the importance of coordinating precautionary measures on cross-border management to protect lives and livelihoods.
During the meeting, foreign ministers acknowledged the importance of opening borders, uniting families, and promoting measures to allow the economy to thrive in light of the protective measures given by health organizations and national regulation during the covid-19 pandemic.
In addition, the ministers also expressed their deep condolences for the huge loss of human life and tragic impacts caused by covid-19 and acknowledged the efforts and commitment of frontline workers to public health and safety.
As of Thursday, the Indonesian government has recorded 184,628 confirmed covid-19 cases, 132,055 confirmed covid-19 recoveries and 7,750 confirmed covid-19 deaths.
