Jakarta: The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has been greenlighted to help fight bushfires in Australia. TNI personnel will depart from Halim Perdanakusuma airbase, Jakarta to Eden, New South Wales (NSW).
"They will depart on February 1, 2020. They will use a hercules planed. They will transit in Kupang," TNI commander Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahanto said here on Thursday, January 30, 2020.
From Kupang, the TNI personnel will fly to Rosemount, Queensland. After that, they will travel to Eden district by land.
The team will consist of members of Army, Marines and Air Force. The plan has been carefully studied by the TNI and the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
According to Hadi, the plan has also been greenlighted by the government and the House of Representatives (DPR). On February 1, the departure of the team will be witnessed by the TNI commander.
"DPR Commission I has approved the operation. I will witness their departure at Halim. They will go to Australia via Kupang," he remarked.
