Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Affairs Vice Minister A.M. Fachir attended a United Nations (UN) Security Council meeting discussing Palestine's issues at the UN's Headquarter in New York on Tuesday.

"In the past few months, Israel has created a long list of violence and violations to Palestinians, which were clearly against the Human Rights and the International Law," The Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry's website quoted Fachir as saying.

Fachir regretted that Israel had neglected the UN Security Council's Resolution 2334 (2016) in response to the briefing given by the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East' Peace, Nicolay Mladenov.  Israel's action indicated an explicit rejection against the UN Security Council's Resolution.

Nicolay Mladenov, representing the UN Secretary General, submitted the written report on the implementation of Resolution 2334.  Negative situations developed in several Palestine's regions, starting from the termination of foreign supervisory mission at the end of February, tax deduction for Palestine worth US$139 million, closing of Masjid Al-Aqsa gate, occupation expansion, expulsion of Palestinians from their houses, to violence and terror attacks committed by the settlers backed-up by the Israeli security authorities.

Fachir stated that the Israeli Government's actions indicated the tendency of annexation of Palestinian territories.  This actions would likely to contribute to the failure of "solution for both countries" as had been attempted and agreed by the international countries, including Israel and Palestine themselves.

He also highlighted that Palestinian economic and humanity state ought to be prioritized beside other political matters since poverty and unemployment were supposed as the conflict sources.  In February, Indonesia enhanced its aid to be worth US$1 million to UN Board (UNRWA) for the Palestinian refugees in addition to its donation for the desalination project in Gaza.

At the moment, Fachir stated that Indonesia acknowledged Golan Heights as part of Syria's sovereignty.

"Indonesia strongly rejects the USA's acknowledgement that Golan Heights is part of Israel. It is unacceptable in any kinds of standard, especially according to the UN Security Council's Resolution," Fachir told the participants of the meeting.

Furthermore, he stated that the USA's acknowledgement would distract the attempt to create the regional peace and stability.
