Indonesia, China Discuss Collaboration on Covid-19 Vaccine Development

Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi today held a virtual bilateral meeting to discuss the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
 
"We agreed to enhance the international collaboration on covid-19 handling and to ensure a supply chain for medicine production and vaccine development," Retno said during a virtual press conference here on Thursday.
 
The two governments have been actively supporting a covid-19 vaccine development collaboration between Indonesian pharmaceutical company Bio Farma and Chinese company Sinovac which is currently going through a phase-three clinical trial process.

Besides that cooperation, the Indonesian government has also started an initiative to materialize vaccine self-sufficiency.
 
"Bio Farma is currently increasing its production capacity from 100 million doses to 250 million doses," Retno said.
 
Since the outbreak began, China and Indonesia has rendered each other support which testifies to their profound friendship of solidarity and mutual assistance.
