Jakarta: Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahendra Siregar received a courtesy call from French Minister of the Sea, Annick Girardin, on Tuesday.
Girardin stated that Indonesia is the first non-European country that she visited since her appointment in July 2020.
According to a press release issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting discussed concrete steps to improving maritime cooperation between the countries.
As Indonesia’s strategic partner, France hopes that both nations could support each other in the international level.
Moreover, French and Indonesia also need to put their constructive partnership forward in facing global challenges together.
During the visit, Girardin signed two agreements, namely the Letter of Intent on the Establishment of the Maritime Bilateral Dialogue Mechanism and the Joint Statement on the Development of Maritime and Fisheries Cooperation Programs.
In addition, She also witnessed the signing of the Letter of Intent on the Development of Eco-Fishing Ports in Indonesia. (Translator: Natasha Celia)
