Indonesian Embassy Presents Singapore's Temasek with First Adinata Award

Singapore: The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia has presented Temasek with the first Adinata Award, in recognition of the company's longstanding partnership with Indonesia and its efforts in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore.
 
The Adinata Award or Award for Excellence was given out to commemorate Indonesia's Independence Day on 17 August.
 
The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, said that the Adinata Award was presented to Temasek, after considering its track record and long-term investments in Indonesia.

Temasek and its portfolio companies have been investing steadily in Indonesia over the years. Temasek has also supported Indonesia in the provision of training, education scholarship and donations during the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
"Temasek has proven that Singapore is one of those loyal friends that offers its hands in such uncertain times to stay united and work together, jointly dealing with common challenges," said the Ambassador in a press release on Friday.
 
Dilhan Pillay, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of Temasek International, extended Temasek's deep appreciation and honour to be given the award. 
 
"It reaffirms the close partnership that we share with Indonesia. We will continue to work with you, both as an investor, but more importantly, as a friend," he said.
 
In particular, he pointed out that, Indonesia's digital economy holds great promise because of strong fundamentals such as a large population with growing income, and a rapidly developing digital ecosystem.
 
He added that Temasek's ties with Indonesia go beyond business partnerships. Last month, Temasek Foundation and a group of donors from Indonesia and Singapore provided more than 12,000 oxygenators to Indonesia. 
 
"Now and in the coming months, more diagnostics, oxygen equipment and Personal Protective Equipment are being sent to Indonesia," he said.
 
Attending the Award presentation ceremony virtually were the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno L.P. Marsudi, the Minister for Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Singapore, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan and the President and Group CEO of Sembcorp Industries (one of Temasek's portfolio companies), Wong Kim Yin.
 
Foreign Ministers of both countries welcomed the presentation of the first Adinata Award to Temasek. 
 
Through its direct investments and the investments and partnerships of its portfolio companies, Temasek has indeed contributed significantly to Indonesia's economic development and recovery.
 
Both Ministers also agreed on the important role of Temasek in the strengthening of mutually-beneficial cooperation, particularly in overcoming common challenges amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
The Indonesian foreign minister appreciated the support by the government and people of Singapore for Indonesia's pandemic recovery effort. 
 
She added that Temasek Holdings is an important part of the endeavour to flourish relations among the people and businesses of both countries. 
 
"I hope that your long-standing commitment in bringing people of the two countries closer together will be an inspiration for many," she said.
 
The Singaporean foreign minister Temasek is also an active contributor to the economic and to the people-to-people ties. 
 
He recalled the spirit of gotong royong and mutual aid between both countries, in responding to the pandemic and meeting urgent humanitarian needs. 
 
He appreciated all partnered stakeholders involved in such efforts both in Indonesia and Singapore.
 
This year was the first time that the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore held the the Adinata Award presentation ceremony. 
 
The Adinata Award will be presented annually to an individual or institution in Singapore that has increased understanding between Indonesia and Singapore and built better relations between both countries.
