Digital Economy Has Potential to Support Global Economic Recovery: Minister

Jakarta: The digital economy has the potential to support global economic recovery, Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi has said.
 
According to her, Indonesia's G20 Presidency places digital transformation as one of the priority sectors. 
 
"International collaboration and cooperation must continue to be encouraged so that digital transformation can contribute to gloval economic growth, including for developing countries," said Minister Retno in her speech at the Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) Kick-Off Meeting on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

DEWG is intended to discuss cooperation in digital connectivity, digital entrepreneurship, reduction of digital skills gap, and data flow. 
 
This kick off meeting is the beginning of a series of DEWG meetings with the theme "Achieving a Resilient Recovery: Working Together for a More Inclusive, Empowering, and Sustainable Digital Transformation."
 
Foreign Minister Retno conveyed three focuses of international cooperation that need to be paid attention to by digital economy players.
 
First, international collaboration to encourage inclusiveness and bridge the global digital divide.  Second, strengthening global cooperation in digital literacy. Third, international cooperation to build a secure digital ecosystem. 
 
The Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) Kick-Off Meeting is facilitated by the Ministry of Communication and Information.
