Indonesia Plans to Buy 100 Million Doses of AstraZeneca's Covid-19 Vaccine

Jakarta: An Indonesian delegation today held a meeting with the representatives of British multinational biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to discuss a possible covid-19 vaccine cooperation.
 
The Indonesian delegation consists of Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir as well as high-ranking officials from the SOEs Ministry and the Health Ministry.
 
"The meeting with AstraZeneca especially discussed about the commitment to procure vaccine," said Minister Retno during a virtual press briefing on Wednesday.

"Indonesia conveyed its intention to procure 100 million dosages of vaccine for 2021," Indonesia's top diplomat stated.
 
After the meeting, witnessed by Minister Retno and other Indonesian high-ranking officials, the Health Ministry and AstraZeneca signed a letter of intent (LoI) on the planned procurement of covid-19 vaccine from AstraZeneca by the Indonesian Government.
 
According to Minister Retno, before today's meeting, a series of intensive virtual discussion has been conducted between the Indonesian government and the biopharmaceutical company.
 
"AstraZeneca is also interested to establish long-term cooperation and collaboration with Indonesia," the minister stated.
