Jakarta: Indonesia is set to host the 7th 2+2 Meeting between Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and their Australian counterparts.
The meeting will be held in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Thursday.
Based on information issued the Indonesian Foreign Ministry's website, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne and Australian Defense Minister Peter Dutton will visit Indonesia from Wednesday to September 10.
The Indonesia-Australia 2+2 meeting is a forum to discuss strategic issues at the bilateral, regional and global levels.
The forum is also used to promote cooperation between the two countries in order to promote stability, peace and prosperity in the region.
Previously, the 2+2 meeting between Indonesia-Australia was held on the sidelines of the Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) in Nusa Dua, Bali on December 6, 2019.
During the meeting, the two parties reaffirmed their commitment to fighting terrorism in the region, strengthening peacekeeping cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries (TNI and ADF), strengthening cooperation in cyber security, and exchanging expertise and experience in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
Before attending the 2+2 Meeting, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and Australian Defense Minister will hold a Defense Ministers' Meeting.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi will meet face to face with Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne.
