Indonesia, China to Establish Essential Business Travel Corridor

Sanyang: Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi has revealed that Indonesia and China will establish a bilateral essential business travel corridor to facilitate business and diplomatic trips between the two countries.
 
"Indonesia and China have agreed to establish an essential business travel corridor arrangement which will facilitate urgent business and diplomatic trips," Minister Retno said during a virtual press conference here on Thursday evening.
 
According to the minister of foreign affairs, Indonesia has earlier established similar cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and South Korea.
"Our Cooperation with UAE has been effective since July 29, while our cooperation with South Korea has been effective since August 17," Minister Retno said.
 
Minister Retno and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir visited China this week. They held meetings with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and a number of Chinese companies. They also witnessed the signing of memorandum of understanding MoU on vaccine technology and vaccine bulk cooperation between Indonesia's PT Bio Farma and China's Sinovac Biotech.
 
Under this MoU, Sinovac is committed to provide vaccine bulk to Indonesia as well as technological transfer for developing Covid-19 vaccine and other future cooperation. During the discussion, Minister Retno underlined the need to ensure accessibility of vaccine at affordable prices. In addition, she also stressed that this cooperation must be able to help enhance the capacity of Indonesia's vaccine production.
