Australian Embassy Awards Grants to 24 Indonesians

Jakarta: The Australian Embassy has awarded grants to 24 Indonesians who have studied in Australia as part of the first round of the 2020 Alumni Grants Scheme.
 
Under the Alumni Grants Scheme, the Australian Embassy aims to mobilise alumni to use their experience, knowledge and networks to address development challenges in their professional fields or communities.
 
“Congratulations to all successful applicants. Your initiatives will strengthen the partnership between Australia and Indonesia, as well as bring benefits to your professional and local communities,” Australia’s Ambassador to Indonesia Gary Quinlan said in a media release on Tuesday.

Since 2014, Australia Awards Indonesia (the Australian Government’s scholarships and alumni engagement program) has supported 188 projects, which have contributed to strengthening Indonesia’s prosperity and helping the country’s most disadvantaged.
 
The 24 successful applicants for this year, chosen from a field of more than 200, will receive up to A$15,000 to deliver projects in the trade, agriculture, disaster management, public health and disability services sectors.
 
The Alumni Grant Scheme is open to all Indonesians who have graduated from a recognised Australian tertiary institution, including those who are self-funded and alumni of short-term studies or programs in Australia.
 
The successful grantees will now undertake an online workshop that will assist them design and implement their activity.
