Indonesia, Japan Discuss Situation in Myanmar

Bogor: Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi engaged in a telephonic conversation with her Japanese counterpart, Motegi Toshimitsu, on Thursday, to discuss the situation in Myanmar.
 
During the 40-minute discussion, Minister Motegi expressed Japan's ongoing support for ASEAN's initiatives, including the activities of a special envoy of the ASEAN Chair to be nominated and the humanitarian assistance.
 
Minister Marsudi and her Japanese counterpart concurred on continuing to work in close coordination to address the situation in Myanmar.

As published by the Japanese Foreign Ministry's official website, Minister Motegi highlighted the importance of releasing detainees.
 
At the onset, Minister Motegi highlighted the importance of implementing the "Five-Point Consensus" recently announced at the ASEAN Leader's Meeting.
 
On Wednesday, Minister Motegi also held a telephonic discussion with Brunei's Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof during which they spoke on matters pertaining to the outcome of his visit to Myanmar.
