Jokowi Invites Philippine Military Chief to Jakarta

medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo invited Philippine and Malaysian military commanders to Istana Merdeka. Jokowi wlll discuss strategy to eradicate Abu Sayyaf militant group.
 
"We will invite Malaysian military chief and foreign minister. We will also invite Philippine military chief and foreign minister this week," mentioned Jokowi at Istana Negara, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/26/2016).
 
Jokowi underlined regional cooperation is needed to tackle the militant group as it continues to hijack vessels and kidnap sailors in philippine waters.
 
"We will meet here (Jakarta). We want to establish big joint patrol operation," he continued.
 
The former Jakarta Governor said all Indonesian sailors held by Abu Sayyaf are in good condition. Even though, he cannot determine when the sailors will be released.
 
"They are in good condition. No problem. But it (the release) is not that easy," he added.
 
Abu sayyaf currently holds 14 Indonesian sailors. The Indonesian military cannot conduct hostage release operation as the sailors are kept in Philippine territory.
