Australian Navy Commemorates Battle of Sunda Strait

medcom.id, Sunda Strait: Australian Navy ship, HMAS Perth III, sailed into Sunda strait to commemorate a battle in the second world war.
 
Australian Navy ship HMAS Perth I and American Navy ship USS Houston fought Japanese Navy ships in the Battle of Sunda Strait on February 28, 1942. The two ships were sunk and more than one thousand crew were killed.

"HMAS Perth and USS Houston are also part of Indonesian history," said HMAS Perth III Commander Captain Ivan Ingham during the commemoration ceremony, on Wednesday (6/15/2016). 
 
HMAS Perth III crew laid a wreath in the location of the shipwrecks. "HMAS Perth I and USS Houston lost because they were out of ammunition," Ingham continued.
 
Australian Navy Commemorates Battle of Sunda Strait
 
Australian Navy lost 375 sailors in the battle while American Navy lost 696 sailors. The survivors were put in the internment camp.
 
Australian Navy also invited Indonesian Navy to the commemoration ceremony.
