medcom.id, Jakarta: The Indonesian government plans to execute 14 drug convicts this weekend. One of them is drug convict from Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali.
Pakistani Ambassador to Indonesia Muhammad Aqil Nadeem has received notification about the execution.
"The Indonesian government needs to reconsider because the key witness for the case has retracted his testimony," Ambassador Nadeem said at the embassy, Jakarta, Wednesday (7/27/2016).
He believes the man is innocent. Zulfiqar was arrested in 2015 for possession of heroin.
"The key witness, Gurdip Singh, has clarified that Zulfiqar didn't own the heroin," he continued.
"The Pakistani government respects Indonesian legal system, but we think the case should be reviewed," he concluded.
Ambassador Nadeem mentioned that the execution will be held on Friday (7/29).
