medcom.id, Jakarta: Another Indonesian student was caught during anti-Gulen purge in Turkey.
"Another Indonesian student was caught on August 26. The Indonesian Embassy has requested consular access. However, it has not been approved," Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said here on Wednesday (8/31/2016).
Retno revealed the information during a meeting with the House of Representative Commission I overseeing foreign affairs.
This is the fourth such case in Turkey. Indonesian student named Handika Lintang was caught on June 3. He is still in prison until now.
Two unnamed Indonesian students were caught on August 11. They were released few weeks after.
"The Indonesian Embassy will meet Handika on September 1," Retno stated.
The Turkish government believes prominent Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen masterminded the coup attempt in the country last month.
There are 728 Indonesian students in Turkey right now. 282 of them are funded by Gulen-affiliated scholarship.
