medcom.id, California: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) underlined he will not discuss about Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement during his visit to the United States (US) this week.

"We come here not for TPP but for ASEAN-US Summit," said Jokowi to media at Miramonte Resort, Indian Wells, California on Tuesday (2/15/2016), according to release from Presidential Communication Team.

In his previous visit to the US last November, Jokowi revealed Indonesia's intention to join the trade agreement. "I need to explain that the process is quite long. It could take two or three years," he mentioned.

Besides TPP, Indonesia also intends to establish free trade agreement with Europeran Union (EU). Jokowi ensured the government will stuudy the trade agreements carefully.

"Everything will be calculated. The process is still on going," he continued.

Trade Minister Thomas Lembong who is accompanying Jokowi to the US confirmed that TPP is a long-term goal. He said the agreement even has not yet ratified by its original members.
