medcom.id, Jakarta: After docking in Lahat Datu Port for over a week, Henry and Christy ships sailed from Lahad Datu, Malaysia to Tarakan, Indonesia on Thursday, April 21, 2016.
"Indonesian Consulate General in Tawau coordinated with the Indonesian Navy for escort duty at the borders. Both ships entered Indonesian waters at around 03.00 in the morning. The ships were welcomed by KRI Mandau and KRI Ahmad Yani which escorted them to Tarakan," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' director of Indonesian citizens protection, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, in a statement received by Metrotvnews.com, Monday (4/25/2016).
The ships were escorted by Malaysian Navy to the borders of Indonesia-Malaysia.
The ships are carrying five surviving crew with an addition of one new captain sent by the company. Before sailing, the Consulate General in Tawau handed over the ships and crew to the new captain.
Henry and Christy ships carrying 10 Indonesian seamen were hijacked at the borders of Malaysia and the Philippines on April 15, 2016.
In the incident, four crew were abducted and currently taken hostage. Meanwhile, five other crew survived. Aside from that, a seaman was shot by hijacker. He is still being treated in Tawau.
