medcom.id, Pyongyang: To tighten the bilateral relations of Indonesia and North Korea, the delegation of Indonesian People's Consultative Council (MPR) visited Pyongyang. They received the elaboration on the North Korean constitution.
The Study Board of MPR led by the Deputy Chairman of the Board, Dr. TB Hasanuddin, visited Pyongyang on October 14-16, 2015.
"The visit is one of the forms of parliamentary diplomacy to tighten the relations of both countries, which have been going on for more than 50 years," said TB Hasanuddin, in a written statement of Indonesian Embassy in Pyongyang, as received by Metrotvnews.com, Saturday (10/17/2015).
The Indonesian delegation, comprising of eight member of the People's Representative Council (DPR) and a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD), accompanied by the Indonesian Ambassador to North Korea Bambang Hiendrasto. While in the country, they conducted an honorary visit to the Chairman of North Korean Parliament, Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), Choe Thae Bok.
Various issues were discussed on the meeting, where the highlighted theme, among others is the relationship between the two countries, especially the relationship between both parliament and the Korean Peninsula region.
The Delegation Head of MPR and the Chairman of SPA agreed that the great leader Kim Il-Sung and Indonesia's first President Soekarno had established the foundation for both countries' relationship. Moreover, the Chairman of SPA said that the orchid flower presented by President Soekarno to President Kim Il Sung at Bogor Botanical Garden in 1965, as named Kimilsungia, is a symbol of friendship between both nations. He added that Kimilsungia was cultivated across North Korea.
"North Korea has a beautiful nature and its people live in peace. We hope that the peace may spread into the region and worldwide," said TB Hasanuddin.
In this occasion, the Chairman of Indonesian delegation congratulated the Chairman of SPA for the 70th anniversary of the Korean Labor Party, on October 10, 2015. At the end of the meeting, TB Hasanuddin hoped that Indonesia and North Korea's friendship may be well maintained, as cooperation in various fields may be elevated.
Meanwhile, in the meeting with the SPA Councilor Presidium, Ho O Bom, the delegation received various information on the North Korean Constitution. In this meeting, the Indonesian delegation had the chance to deliver various questions, among others the North Korean development plan and protection over foreign investments.
Answering the question on the secret of North Korean people's unity in supporting the country and its ideology, Ho O Bom explained that since the administration of President Kim Il Sung, North Korea has a principle of 'people is God', meaning the government should see the people as God and devote their services to the people the best they can. Based on that, a condition was created where the country and party serve and protect the people, where in return the people do the best they can for the leader, country and party.
Aside from meeting SPA, the Indonesian delegation also met with the Indonesian people living in Pyongyang, which is the Ambassador, staff and families, as also visiting the Kumsusan Sun Palace, where the mausoleum of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il was located, as well as the Juche Tower.
