medcom.id, Jakarta: President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain underlined the importance of support from Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries to Palestine in the midst of increasing Israel's confrontation against the Palestinian people.
"Recently, the atrocities from Israel increase a lot," said Mamnoon to Metrotvnews.com on the sidelines of the 5th OIC Extraordinary Summit, Jakarta, Monday (3/7/2016).
Mamnoon lamented illegal settlements built by the Israeli government in Palestinian territory which he believes could prevent the realization of the Palestinian state.
However, he praised OIC countries which in his view is succesful in bringing the issue to international community. "Not only OIC, so many other countries in the world also condemn Israel," he mentioned.
The Pakistani President also appreciated the rising of Palestinian flag in the United Nations headquarter last year. He believes international recognition could help Palestine to reach its full independence.
"God willing, one day Palestine could get their land and be free from the Israeli occupation," he concluded.
President Mamnoon visited Jakarta for the 5th OIC Extraordinary Summit which discuss recent situation in Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif. The summit produced resolution which reiterated support and commitment from OIC countries to Palestine.
The countries also agreed Jakarta Declaration which consists of concrete measures to support Palestine.
