medcom.id, Jakarta: Two Indonesians reportedly were arrested in Japan for illegal gun ownership.
However, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spoke Person Arrmanatha Nasir said consular notification for the arrest only mentioned one Indonesian was arrested yesterday.
"Indonesian Embassy has implemented coordination and identification. We have made coordination so the rights of these two Indonesians could be fulfilled," he said in Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarter in Jakarta, Thursday (11/26/2015).
"Until yesterday evening, consular notification from Japan only mentioned one person. We will check whether it is related to them," he said.
Regarding suspicion that the two Indonesians are related to terrorism, Arrmanatha said the case is still being investigated. But one Indonesian was charged for illegal gun ownership.
"Until now we don't get information from Japanese Authority," he said.
About the identity of the Indonesians, he said the name cannot be revealed yet because the charge is not determined yet. If they have been labelled as terrorist and in the future it is proved wrong, public will be difficult to accept them.
