medcom.id, Jakarta: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh at Mulia Hotel in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta on Wednesday, August 9, 2017.
Lavrov was accompanied by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi. He was also accompanied by Indonesian Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti.
Lavrov unveiled the Russian Mission to ASEAN during the meeting. He also introduced the Russian ambassador for the regional bloc in the same time.
"It will underline Russia's stance toward ASEAN. It will improve Russia's relations with ASEAN countries," the top Russian diplomat said.
"We are committed to increase partnernships in a wide range of sectors. We are confident to improve collaborations in defense, transportation, culture and other sectors," he added.
The East ASIA Summit (EAS) was held in Sochi, Russia last year. It was mainly aimed to enhance ASEAN-Russia partnership.
