Jokowi Opens Inaugural IORA Leaders Summit

medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo opened the Leaders Summit of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
 
"The Indian Ocean is experiencing rapid development," he said.
 
The summit was attended by 21 IORA member countries, seven IORA dialogue partners and eight international organizations.

The summit was preceded by a senior level meeting on Sunday and a ministerial level meeting on Monday.
 
The Indian Ocean carries half of world's container ships. It also carries two thirds of world's oil shipments.
 
The IORA member countries are Indonesia, Australia, Bangladesh, Comoros, India, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, Seychelles, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
