medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesia has agreed to host the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit on the issue of Al-Quds and Palestine. The summit is scheduled be held on March 6-7.
"It is an urgent summit related to the efforts on the independence of Palestine and Jerusalem," stated Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arrmanatha Nasir at his office, Jakarta, Monday (1/25/2016).
Arrmanatha said OIC feels the summit is crucial issue as problems in Jerusalem has been continuously occurring with no end.
Indonesia was selected as the host of the Summit due to its commitment towards the independence of Palestine, as well as the its experience in hosting summits.
"Indonesia was able to host the Asia Africa Summit whose preparation was less than a year but still successful," he mentioned.
He also explained that Indonesia, Palestine and the OIC Secretariat have prepared the agenda for the Summit. however, they has not sent the invitations yet.
"OIC Secretariat will announce to other members which will be followed by formal invitation from President Joko Widodo as the host," he concluded. (Nabila Gita)
