medcom.id, Jakarta: The four Indonesians who were released by Somali pirates this month have been reunited with their families.

"It took a long time. The situation was very complex," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi during the handover ceremony in Jakarta on Monday (10/31).

Five Indonesians and around 20 other Asian nationals were kidnapped in 2012. They were crew members of the fishing vessel Naham 3.

One Indonesian died in captivity in 2014. He died because of illness.

"The deceased was buried in the location," Retno stated.
