medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesian barge, Anand 12, was found in waters off Lahad Datu, Sabah, Malaysia. The barge was hijacked by Abu Sayyaf last month. The militant group until now still hold ten Indonesian sailors.
"Anand 12 yesterday (4/4) was found in waters off Lahad Datu, Sabah, Malaysia. The barge has been towed to Fordesko Port in Lahad Datu," said Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi during press statement, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/5/2016).
Retno added that the barge is in the hand of Malaysian maritime authority. The barge is going to be examined by forensic team.
"Preliminary information, the cargo is untouched," stated Retno.
Abu Sayyaf hijacked two Indonesian vessels, Brahma 12 tugboat and Anand 12 barge, in the border of Indonesia and the Philippines last month. The shipowner was called by the hijacker on March 26 who demanded ransom money.
Philippine authority is still trying to free the hostages. They previously rejected Indonesia's offer to help the rescue operation.
