"We are still waiting for information," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir on Thursday (11//10).
Filipino militants hijacked two Malaysian fishing vessels in Malaysia waters last week. They then kidnapped two Indonesian boat captains.
Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi visited Malaysia few days ago. she conducted a meeting with Malaysian Foreign Ministers Anifah Aman in Kuala Lumpur. She also had a meeting with Indonesian sailors in Sabah.
"Indonesia hopes Malaysia can improve security around the area," he mentioned.
Previously, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines agreed maritime security cooperation in the Sulu-Sulawesi Seas. However, the latest incident occurred outside the cooperation area.
