medcom.id, Jakarta: The government will increase protection for Indonesian vessels in the Sulu-Sulawesi Seas following the kidnapping of Indonesian sailors in Lahad Datu, Sabah, Malaysia last week.
"It has been agreed. There will be protection," said Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (7/11/2016).
Luhut ensured Indonesia will not stop coal imports to the Philippines. Militants in the Sulu-Sulawesi Seas often target coal shipments to the country. "They need us and we need them," he continued.
The retired general will conduct meeting regarding the issue soon. He then will report the result to President Joko Widodo.
Three Indonesian sailors were kidnapped in Sabah waters on Saturday (7/9) night. They worked in a Malaysian fishing vessel when the incident happened.
