medcom.id, Jakarta: United States (US) Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Southeast Asia W. Patrick Murphy has urged Indonesia to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
"We hope Indonesia want to join the TPP," said Murphy during a public discussion in Jakarta on Tuesday (10/20).
President Joko Widodo revealed Indonesia's intention to join the trade agreement when he visited the US in October 2015.
"There are many opportunities in the TPP," Murphy continued.
There are four ASEAN countries in the TPP namely Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and Vietnam. The other TPP members are US, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
