medcom.id, Jakarta: New Zealand has simplified the process of visa application for Indonesians coming to visit the country on business purposes.

The simplification was officiated through the MoU between the Immigration of New Zealand (INZ), Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) and four travel agencies.

The Head of New Zealand Immigration, Nigel Bickel, at the signing of the MoU in Fairmont Hotel, South Jakarta, Tuesday evening (11/3/2015), said, "The change is a joyful news for New Zealand, as it shows the high commitment towards the Indonesian citizens coming to visit."

"New Zealand is a fantastic destination for tourists on business travel, with the various conferences developed in Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown," continued Bickel.

Through the new deal, Indonesians conducting business visit to New Zealand will only spend three days to acquire a visa. The document requirements related to the visa were also reduced.

Four travel agencies were appointed based on their abilities of attracting visitors for high valued and low risk businesses to New Zealand.

Another official present in the signing of the MoU is the Regional Manager of Tourism New Zealand for South and South East Asia, Steven Dixon.

"Indonesia is one of our main markets for tourism and business, with more than 17,000 Indonesian tourists visiting last year, rising 17 percent from the previous year," Dixon said.

"With the rising number of tourists, we are certain that we may attract more qualified tourists from Indonesia, as it will have a positive effect for NZ's economy," he added. (Nabila Gita)
