medcom.id, Jakarta: The Indonesian Ambassador to Timor Leste Primanto hendrasmoro denied that former Timor Leste prime Minister Xanana Gusmao gave award to Indonesian human rights activist Wiji Thukul.

"That is incorrect. No statement from Xanana and no award from Xanana as well as the Timor Leste government," confirmed Primanto to Metrotvnews.com, Friday (3/18/2016).

Primanto explained on Wednesday (3/16) non-governmental organization in Timore Leste organized seminar for Indonesians who supported Timor Leste's independence struggle.

"The seminar was attended by Xanana as democratic figure from Timor Leste. It discussed Indonesian figures in 1998-1999 who sympathized with Timor Leste's struggle including Wiji Thukul," he continued.

Previously, there was rumor that Xanana gave award to Wiji Thukul which  was taken by Wiji Thukul's daughter Fitri Nganthi Wani.

It was also rumored that Xanana revealed Wiji Thukul made and supplied bombs for Timor Leste's freedom fighter against Indonesian military.

Wiji Thukul has been missing since July 1998. His disappearance is still clouded by mystery until now. He is a poet and human rights activists who actively opposed New Order regime in Indonesia.
