medcom.id, Istanbul: The member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) appreciated Indonesia's active role on Palestinian issues.
"OIC again gave its highest appreciation to Indonesia's active role on Palestinian issues. The award refers to OIC's Fifth Extraordinary Summit on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, where Indonesia was the host," stated the Indonesian Foreign Ministry in a press release received by Metrotvnews.com, Wednesday (4/13/2016).
"OIC member states also reminded for the implementation of the extraordinary summit's results by all members," continued the statement.
During the Ministerial Meeting of OIC in Istanbul on April 12, Retno conveyed that the two outcome documents from Jakarta may be referenced for the efforts of Palestinian independence.
Aside from that, Retno also mentioned that OIC should be capable of answering the new global challenges. "OIC should go beyond business as usual'," said Retno.
Furthermore, Indonesia appreciated support from member states on its initiative to form the OIC Contact Group on Peace and Conflict Resolution. It is intended to give peaceful solution for conflicts in the Islamic world.
The meeting of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on April 12-13, 2016, as a preparation for the 13th OIC Summit. The summit itself will take place on April 14-15, 2016. Indonesian delegation at the summit will be led by Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
