medcom.id, Jakarta: Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi revealed the government's view on ransom money demanded by Abu Sayyaf to free 10 Indonesian sailors.
The militant group asked 50 million peso (Rp15 billion) for the sailors who were kidnapped in waters off the Sulu Islands in the southern Philippines last month.
"In principle, state should not involve in ransom payment. It should not be conducted by the state," ensured Retno at press briefing, Jakarta, Monday (4/11/2016).
Retno explained she continues to have intensive discussion on hostage release effort with the Philippine government.
"President and Vice President have instructed to strengthen coordination on hostage release effort," she said.
