Kimchi Diplomacy Strengthens South Korea-Indonesia Relations

medcom.id, Jakarta: South Korean Embassy in Jakarta held an event titled Kimchi Festival. It is another form of South Korean diplomacy with Indonesia.
 
Kimchi is Korean traditional food that is famous in Indonesia. "I am pleased that kimchi is popular in Indonesia as many Indonesians love to eat kimchi. In Korea, there are various types of kimchi," said Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Cho Tae Yong at the embassy, Jakarta, Wednesday (4/27/2016).
 
He revealed his reason to hold this festival is to tighten relations between the two countries through culture. "The Kimchi Festival is the first since I was stationed in Indonesia," he added.

Ambassador Cho also added that kimchi is a healthy food for the body, especially the skin, as it is made from various vegetables and seasonings.
 
There are hundreds of kimchi types made out of main ingredients such as cabbage, radish, mustard, scallions or cucumber. The most famous type of kimchi is baechu (cabbage) and chonggak (young radish).
