British Ambassador Visits Eco-Friendly Wood Industry in Central Java

medcom.id, Jakarta: British Ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik visits environmentally friendly wood industry in Central Java this week.
 
"Not only is it possible to have strong economic growth alongside sustainable climate friendly policies, It is essential for long term well being of Indonesia and the world," said Ambassador Moazzam in a press release received by Metrotvnews.com, Monday (2/22/2016).
 
"The projects I am seeing this week show that an environmentally sustainable approach to the timber industry makes good business sense. The  long term profitability of the industry, and the livelihoods of the hundreds of thousands of people it employs, is directly linked to the long-term health and sustainability of the forests," he continued.
 
During the visit, Ambassador Moazzam will go to Semarang, Jepara, Boyolali and Klaten. He will meet with log suppliers, wood processors and furniture producers. He will also meet with owners and workers of timber industry as well as local officials.
 
Ambassado Moazzam will also observe the progress of Timber Legality Verification System (SVLK) whose implementation supported by the British goverment.
