medcom.id, Washington DC: Several top leaders of the multinational corporation General Electric (GE) company met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in Washington DC, USA. They conveyed their interest and commitment to continue the electricity project in Indonesia.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said mentioned that GE is one of the companies which has been operational for quite some time in Indonesia. The GE leaders came as led by Vice Chairman John Rice, in order to continue its investments in the archipelago.
"They have joint venture with PLN (Indonesian Electric Company). They will continue to invest in Indonesia, especially the project to build 35,000 megawatt of electricity," said Sudirman, following the one on one meeting with President Jokowi and his delegation with several top leaders of Chevron in Blair House, Washington DC, Monday (10/26/2015).
"There are some which are already concrete, including building mobile generator(s), 25,000 MW power plants able to be placed in several regions." Sudirman added that within nine months, mobile generators have been installed for 900 MW.
In the same day, President Jokowi was to attend the announcement and signing of business deals in the Lee Anderson Room, one of them being between PLN and General Electric. At the same time, the business deals between Pertamina and Corpus Christie Liquefaction, expansion of Phillip Morris, Cargill investments, Coca Cola expansion in Bekasi and Surabaya, Saka Energy with Swift Energy, as well as Udaya University with SkyChaser Energy.
