medcom.id, Jakarta: Second Indonesian hostage has escaped from Abu Sayyaf militants in the southern Philippines.
Ismail was found not long after Muhammad Sofyan was rescued on the shore of Sulu province.
Indonesian Foreign Ministry's director for the protection of Indonesian citizens and legal entities Lalu Muhammad Iqbal said Ismail was brought to Edwin Andrews Airbase in Zamboanga, Sulu province.
"After that, he was brought to a hotel in Zamboanga," he told reporters, here, Thursday (8/18/2016).
Ismail and Muhammad Sofyan were kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf militants in June 2016. They were kidnapped along with their five other colleagues.
The militant group currently still hold nine Indonesians. All of them are sailors.
